Since 1951 year the football club "Metalurh" starts to carry out the work dedicated to the organization of trainer's work in a direction of preparation of the future football generation. Such pupils of the school as Victor Serebrennikov, Joseph Malkin, Vladimir Olejnik, Boris Zozulja, Victor Matvienko, Victor Malahovsky, Stanislav Chumak, Victor Kutin, Oleg Usov, Stanislav Egorovich with their game were obtaining a name to the Zaporozhye football.

In December, 1975 the rank "Dedicated" was conferred to the football school "Metalurh". The school by the right can be proud of the graduates: Peter Chilibi, Vladimir Smarovoz, Alexander Nefedov, Roman Bondarenko, Andrey Mareev, Anatoly Borisenko, Gennady Perepadenko, Alexander Spitsinym, Jury Sak, Sergey Savran, Jury Gazjukin, Alexey Antjuhin, Andrey Maksimenko, Ilya Bliznjuk, Sergey Kljuchik, Jury Markin, Eugeny Shahov, Vladimir Vanin, Igor Luchkevich, Pavel Shkapenko and coaches, who brought up many talented football players: Peter Tishchenko, Vladimir Olejnik, Boris Zozulya, Grigory Vul, Victor Lejner, Vladimir Kochegarov, Nikolay Skrylnik, Anatoly Vasilega, Victor Vysochin, Jury Rozenko.

In competitions of masters of the championship of Ukraine, Zaporozhye "Metalurh" is presented by three teams. The first team - "Metalurh" plays in the major league of the championship of Ukraine on football. In the nearest reserve "Metalurh" and "Metalurh - 2" is presented by the talented youth which has been brought up by club’s football school. Having gained wisdom by experience of the staff, the rows of the first team during the last seasons have enlarged Volodymyr  Polyovy, Sergiy Silyuk, Dmytro Nevmyvaka, Volodymyr Arzhanov, Anton Gay. A great honor to protect the colors of combined teams of Ukraine on football in past elimination games of the championship of Europe and the world have achieved the following pupils of football school "Metalurh": combined team U-18 - Artem Semenenko, Andrey Malyuk and Andrey Blavatsky; combined team U-19 - Mykhaylo Tsymbal and Yevgen Pysots’ky; youth combined team of Ukraine - Sergiy Silyuk, Dmytro Nevmyvaka, Volodymyr Arzhanov, Stanislav Bogush, Olexiy Godin. And on October, 12, 2005 took place the debut in the ranks of the national combined team of Ukraine of the 21-year old pupil of the football school of Zaporozhye "Metalurh" Alexander Maksimov in a companionable duel with a team of Japan.

Now the training process in the sports school is led by legendary football players of "Metalurh" - head master Leonid Semenovich Kljuchik and his assistant who has worked at school more than 40 years, Victor Vladimirovich Malahovsky. Today 400 pupils are indulged under the direction of 17 regular coaches on the staff at sports school, and the admission of talented guys doesn’t stop during the year.
